Obama giving Israel a lot of grief? That can be debated, although I don't think that this is the right place to do so. Suffice it to say that being critical of a country's government is not the same as rejecting/condemning a whole people, or denying that people's right to exist as a nation.

As for Barbra, she has always supported Israel as a nation, but I don't think she endorses every single action by whatever Israeli government is currently in office. So maybe she just happens to agree with Obama?

Moreover, although she has made very political comments on her blog in the past, I don't ever remember a comment by her about other countries' politics, including the Middle East. Barbra's no dummy, she knows full well that the Middle East problems are much too complex to come up with simplistic, black and white answers/solutions. So don't expect any comments from her re this topic any time soon.

As an International Relations major, I do respect Barbra for not getting involved in world politics.I don't remember anything that she said about our human rights.

i didn't mean to rankle-i know she has supported Israel as a nation -it is her heritage-but doesn't not supporting the current government mean not supporting Israel? I agree shes very smart in not expressing world views but this is also her people-just a thought -i was curious-i'm not a Bible beater but it does say in the end the whole world will turn its back on Israel-more of a concern over our government then Barbra herself but just a question on whether she sides with Israel or the governments stance on Israel-sorry to get so political

No, it does not mean that. This is the same rhetoric that the Bush Administration employed vis-a-vis the rest of the world for 8 years: If you're not for us and our foreign policies, you are against AMERICA!! I had actually thought that people had grown beyond putting total faith in governments, but apparently not. As the fella once said: Governments come and go, but the people remain! That certainly goes for the Israeli people as well.

Please take no offence, but this apocalyptic talk is driving me bonkers. It's from the New Testament, it's not even in the Old Testament whose scriptures are recognized by Jews. I don't know why religion and politics have to be mixed that way, I guess I'm too European for something like this.

Again, my apologies, no harm intended in what I wrote. :wavehi:
